Florida’s Action Coalition addresses this recommendation by promoting academic progression in nursing through various initiatives. They support programs that encourage nurses to obtain higher degrees, such as the Nursing Education Simulation Training program, which aims to enhance educational opportunities and professionalism in nursing. The coalition also collaborates with academic institutions to promote seamless progression from associate to baccalaureate programs, emphasizing the need for lifelong learning and advanced education within the nursing workforce.

Secondly, the IOM report urges an increase in the number of nurses with higher degrees, specifically urging the proportion of nurses with a doctorate to double by 2020.
