Nursing as a profession is built on a foundation of knowledge, skills, and values that guide the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. As a student nurse, my philosophy of nursing is grounded in the belief that every individual deserves holistic and compassionate care. This philosophy is shaped by a combination of personal experiences, educational teachings, and exposure to various nursing theories. Out of the abundant nursing theories available, the one that interests me the most is the Person-Centered Care Theory by Kristen Swanson. In this essay, I will discuss my philosophy of nursing and elaborate on the relevance of nursing theory in my nursing practice.
Philosophy of Nursing
My philosophy of nursing is rooted in the belief that each individual is a unique and holistic being deserving of quality care. I believe that nursing is an art and a science that encompasses the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of a person.
